Brian Charboneau, Program Lead Teacher
Mr. Charboneau revamped the Academy when taking over as coordinator in 2012. He has acted as program coordinator the last five years and is currently SA mentor to the class of 2017 and 2018. He teaches the AP Capstone classes as well as AP Psychology. Mr. Charboneau is gifted endorsed and has both his M.Ed. and B.S. degrees from the University of Central Florida. He is a proud inaugural staff member of Wekiva High School.
Michael Kellen, English Language Arts
Mr. Kellen joined the Academy in 2014 and is an inaugural faculty member of Wekiva High School. Mr. Kellen graduated from UCF in 2002 with a BA in English and attended Stetson University where he earned his MS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He also serves as the Language Arts curriculum leader. Mr. Kellen teaches the SA elective 9th grade class, 10th grade SA English, and is the SA mentor for the class of 2019.
Krista Kelly, English Language Arts
Mrs. Kelly joined the Academy in 2017 and is currently teaching AP Language & Composition and English I at Wekiva High School. She is the 9th grade Scholar's Academy English cohort instructor as well as the mentor for the incoming class of 2021. Mrs. Kelly has an ESOL and Gifted Endorsement, as well as earning her National Board Certification. She earned her B.A. in communications from the University of Central Florida.
Michelle Hill, Latin Teacher
Mrs. Hill was delighted to take over the Latin program in 2015. She came to Wekiva from Winter Park High School where she taught Latin for five years. In addition to teaching all the Latin classes offered at Wekiva HS, Mrs. Hill also sponsors the Latin Club and Honor Society and the Chick Fil A Leader Academy. Mrs. Hill is currently the mentor to the class of 2020. She has both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Stellenbosch in her home country of South Africa.

Edwidge Boireau, Guidance Counselor
Ms. Boireau has been a Guidance Counselor at Wekiva High School since 2014. She is the point of contact for the Scholar’s Academy and her role is to assure that students are placed in the rigorous courses needed in order to complete the program successfully. Ms. Boireau graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in Family, Youth & Community Sciences and a M.Ed./Ed.S in School Counseling and Guidance.

Demetria Wilson, Assistant Principal (API)
Ms. Wilson has been the Assistant Principal Instructional (API) at Wekiva High School and administrator over the Advanced Placement curriculum since 2012. She is currently the administrator over Guidance Services, the English department and Reading department. Ms. Wilson has her B.A. and M. Ed degrees from University of South Florida. As API, Ms. Wilson ensures that the Scholar Academy students have the most rigorous course work that will challenge and prepare them for their post-secondary endeavors.
